The concept of interferon

Interferon (IFN) is a virus or other factor such as interferon inducer, stimulates vertebrate tissue cells (in vitro or in vivo) produce a special protein that can interfere with the proliferation of the virus.

Interferon classification

Type I

IFNα, the cell source is white blood cells (mainly mononuclear phagocytic cells)

IFNβ, the cell source is fibroblasts

Type II

IFNγ, the cell source is activated Th1 cells, CD8 + TL and NK cells

Physicochemical properties of interferon

(1) the molecular weight of interferon is generally 20 ~ 100kD, generally at 56 ℃ for 30min will not be inactivated, -20 ℃ can be long-term preservation.

(2) in the pH stability, type I interferon with acid resistance, very stable in the pH 2.0 ~ 10.0. Type II interferon is not acid, not heat, that is unstable at pH 2.0, at 56 ℃ 30min will be destroyed.

(3) Interferon generally consists of 130 to 170 amino acids, containing more than 17 kinds of amino acids, including aspartic acid, glutamic acid and leucine content is higher.
